Mechanical and electrical
McNicholas provides a fully integrated mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) service, primarily to the UK power, water, rail and defence industries.
Operating nationally, the business is able to call upon directly employed resources to provide clients with a complete project management and installation service.
The company is an ECA, NICEIC approved contractor and is Lloyds accredited to undertake LV, MV and HV jointing and cabling works up to 132kV. Its team includes personnel who are COMPEX trained and are able to certify installations within hazardous areas in line with ATEX and DSEAR directives.
Project management
Clients can call upon a complete project management service, incorporating elements such as feasibility studies, concept and detailed designs, technical advice and integrated civils and MEICA services.
Site installation
Projects range from small, one-off installations to full turnkey projects throughout the UK utilising, technical and installation operatives who are fully trained and equipped to ensure works are completed safely, in line with necessary regulations and to clients’ specifications.
Installation teams are experienced in a wide range of works including all electrical and mechanical aspects, site steelwork fabrication, confined space working, testing, commissioning and fault finding.
Water expertise
A core element of the McNicholas business is the refurbishment of sewage pumping stations. The company has over 50 years’ experience in this field and has built an enviable reputation with many water companies as a one-stop shop for the delivery of capital maintenance and refurbishment schemes. McNicholas has successfully delivered extensive works through long term, multi-million pound framework contracts.
Site steelwork
A comprehensive steelwork capability complementing the overall McNicholas MEICA service is also available. Fully experienced teams handle the design and installation of a wide range of site steelwork, including hand railing, barriers, gates and kicker plates and open mesh and chequer plate flooring. Access facilities such as ladders, staircases and platforms are also constructed as are lifting gantries and steel structures.
