McNicholas has been selected as a finalist in the category Sustainable Contractor of the Year in the 2017 Construction News Awards. This year the Construction News Awards are celebrating their 21 years of commending the very best contractors in the UK.
Emma Ward, Group Sustainability Manager at McNicholas reflects on the shortlisting; “2016 has seen McNicholas’ sustainability strategy, ‘Our World’, come to life. At its heart is our belief that McNicholas’ success is delivered through our employees doing great things every day and we are working continuously to make sustainability more human and accessible to all. McNicholas has publicised its commitments and celebrations by adopting a ‘nowhere to hide’, stand-alone website and social media feed where anyone could take look inside ‘Our World’. We also took the decision to replace our formal annual report with a blog style approach to continuously communicate our activities and to create a dialogue. Our commitment in taking ‘Our World’ is included within the Holding Company Business Plan and underpinned through Operational Board Director Sponsorship of our commitments.”

In October 2016 McNicholas earned the CEMARS Gold Certificate recognising our Carbon Reduction successes over many years.
Before the ceremony McNicholas will tell our sustainability success story to members of a 60-strong jury, made up of our construction industry peers.
The winners will be announced on 13 July 2017 at a glamorous ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, where over 1,400 of the industry’s elite will join together for a night of entertainment, celebration and networking.
