As a privately owned business, our shareholders are closely involved in the business at a senior level. We believe that both our Group and Operations Boards have the diversity and the mix of skills, experience, independence and knowledge of the company to enable them to carry out its responsibilities successfully.
Combining the values and behaviours of a family business with the best aspects of a corporation results in high standards of governance and a forward-thinking, customer-focused approach to markets and innovation. We are committed to the highest standards of corporate governance by running our business responsibly, meeting and, where possible exceeding, all legal and regulatory requirements.
The Group Board is responsible for both the stewardship and governance of the company. It sets the company’s strategic aims and values and oversees the executive management and Operational Board. The Group Board is also charged with reporting on the company’s performance, and, in this we feel that we are well placed to comply with the revised requirements of the UK Corporate Governance Code, which come into effect in 2015, to make our annual report fair, balanced and understandable.
