The McNicholas family established the business by servicing the rapidly expanding post-war telecommunications industry. New sectors such as gas and water were soon added to the portfolio. Over the years, McNicholas has continued to embrace and then adapt to, innovate and deliver in new sectors.
We currently employ 1,400 who work on multi-utility projects as well as in sectors such as gas, power, telecommunications, rail, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical and, most recently, renewables in the shape of wind farm development.
Our growth has enabled us to develop exceptional knowledge and expertise, which we harness to deliver complex projects and programmes, achieving sustainable, best value outcomes that protect the long term interests of our clients.
Such success reflects excellent planning, creative engineering solutions, and close liaison with clients and stakeholders, including local authorities, landowners and the public. We have exemplary safety records and the in-house expertise, resources and systems to ensure effective delivery of work while minimising our impact on the environment.
We have an outstanding track record of employing local people and becoming part of the communities within which we work. For the future, we are committed to developing skills for the industry, via apprenticeships, trainees and graduate schemes.
We work with the local supply chain wherever we can, building sustainable relationships with the communities we work in and are part of.
We aim to exceed, not just meet, our clients’ expectations by giving exemplary service, to get it right first time, to minimise the disruption caused by noise, dust and traffic, and to be sensitive to local issues.
Through our collaborative approach, bringing innovative and sustainable solutions to the challenges our clients face, we have become a valued and trusted business throughout the UK.
